    History His old style birth date was 2 Feb. 1900 census, Marion County, Kansas. Certificate of citizenship, 1 Oct 1892, Marion County. Moved to California in 1909 and resided at 17657 E. Dinuba, Reedley.
    Goessel MB p. 8 gives a baptism date of 18 Oct 1885. "1875 aus Russland Molotschna, Marion Co. Kansas".
    FRANZ HEINRICHS (JOHANN1) was born February 02, 1844 in Prangenau, Molotschna Colony, Russia, and died May 16, 1917 in Reedley, Fresno, California. He married KATHERINA BALZER February 01, 1866 in Russia, daughter of HEINRICH BALTZER and HELENA SCHROEDER.
    Nine and a half years after Franz and Katherina were married they decided to leave Russia and go to America. With four small children, a maid and a hired hand, and Katherina expecting their sixth child in a month, they left Russia on June 15, 1875. Six weeks later with a ten day old baby they set foot in America. They traveled on the NEDERLAND departing from Antwerp and arriving in Philadelphia on July 25, 1875. The ship manifest lists them as follows:

    The family settled in the Gruenfeld District, Marion County, Kansas. They joined the Mennonite Brethren Church in 1885. On October 15, 1903 they moved to Gotebo, Oklahoma located just south of Cordell. They heard of a mine being opened there. The move was by horse and wagon to this Indian territory. In 1910 they moved with their youngest son, William, to Reedley, California. They spent five days on a train and made their home at 1043 L Street in Reedley.
    On May 15, 1917 he suffered a heart attack at 10 o'clock pm and passed away at 1:10 am the next morning. After Mr. Heinrichs death his wife and youngest son moved in with Frank and Nettie Heinrichs. During her last years Katherine lost her mind. She died on June 24, 1924 at 3:00 am of pneumonia. Both Franz and Katherine are buried in the Reedley cemetery.
