Obituary - 1934: B.A. Wiens was born January 16, 1879 in Chonau, South Russia. He died March 23, at the State Hospital at Larned, Kansas, where he had been only one day.
In the year of 1900 he was baptized by Rev. Cor Unruh on the confession of his faith. He left Russia in 1904, in the holy bonds of matrimony to Miss Mary Wiens on Sept 4th, 1906. In October they moved to Hooker, Oklahoma where they lived five months and then returned to Inman. They joined the Bethel Church and on Nov. 27, 1910 he wsa ordained as a minister by Rev. Henry Toews. He taught German school for a while. In August 1915, they moved to Meade, Kansas, where they lived 19 years. He had served as minister for 22 years. About a year ago his health slowly failed. And for the last nine months he has not been able to preach, although he kept on teaching his Sunday School class as long as he possibly could. His condition grew worse very rapidly and he was taken to a Sanitarium in Hillsboro, Kansas. He seemed to grow stronger there, but was very hard for him to talk. Whenever he had an opportunity to sing he sang with a clear voice and remembered all the songs. He left the Sanitarium on March 6 and stayed with Abr. Wiens in Inman, who took care of him for about two weeks. His condition grew worse and upon the advice of the doctors, he was taken to the State Hospital at Larned. He suffered a stroke and lived only a few hours.
Mr. and Mrs. Wiens were married 28 years and had the privilege of celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary on Sept 4, 1931.
He reached the age of 55 years, 2 months, and 8 days. Those left to mourn his departure are his widow, four daughters, five sons, one daughter-in-law and one son-in-law. Three brothers, A.F. Wiens (Chicago); John A. Wiens (Dinuba, California); Cor. Wiens (Russia); one sister, Mrs. Aganetha Fast (Canada).
