    Died - At Murray Harbour on Thursday 16th ult., after a short illness, in the 76th year of his age, John L. Llewellyn, Esq. The deceased was well known in this Island, from his valuable contributions some years since to the Island Press on the subject of Agriculture.

    • Public Notice: P.E.I.R - Saturday, 29 May 1824, Pg. 2, Col. 4
      Agency. The Subscriber takes leave to inform the public of Prince Edward Island, that in consequence of Mr. G. Wright's resignation, he has been appointed by Mr. John Cambridge, late of this Island, but now resident in Bristol, his General Agent; and invites to a speedy and personal settlement, all persons who stand indebted to Mr. Cambridge. The Subscriber also requests those who may hold any property, deeds, or other effects of his employer, to render an account thereof, as he is specially authorized and positively instructed to take possession of every kind and denomination of property, in order, among other reasons, to his transmitting a true statement of the same as soon as may be. Signed J.L. Llewellyn, Murray Harbour, 26 May 1824. It is J.L. Llewellyn's intention to fix certain days for meeting at Charlotte Town the distant Tenantry, and for transacting any business relative to Mr. Cambridge's Estate. Letters to be addressed to Murray Harbour.

      Those Tenants and Purchasers of Land who are in arrears to Mr. John Cambridge, are hereby informed that his Agent has instructions to receive the same in cash - but as provisions are now wanted, Mr. Spencer, butcher of Charlottetown has been empowered by me to take Pork in payment at the carcass cash market price. Mr. Sims is authorized to give discount charges for cash payments. Wheat also may be delivered at Charlottetown, apply to Mr. Sims. Fat cattle will be taken at Murray Harbour at so much per head alive, or so much per pound. Codfish, herrings or mackerel would also be taken at present.

      A meeting of the inhabitants of Murray Harbour on Monday 1st November 1824 resolved that a congratulatory address should be given Ready upon his appointment to Lieut. Governor and that Mr. Crane, Mr. Sullivan and Mr. Llewellyn, the Chairman, be the deputation to present it. The Address was to be printed once in the Colonial Paper. The body of the address printed and at the end stated it was signed by fifty of the most respectable inhabitants of Murray Harbour. Ready made gracious reply.
