    History 40th Anniversary - Hutch News - 10-17-2004:
    Walter and Kathy Rempel, Meade, will celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary with a come-and-go reception from 2 to 4 p.m. Oct. 24 at Emmanuel Mennonite Church, 400 East Green Street, Meade.
    Rempel and the former Katharina Nickel were married Oct. 24, 1964. He is a farmer. She is a homemaker. Hosts for the reception will be their children and spouses, Leanne and Eddie Plett, Salina, and Robert and Sara Rempel, Lyons. They have three grandchildren.

    MEADE - Katharina E. "Kathy" Rempel, 72, died May 13, 2006, at Meade District Hospital.
    She was born Nov. 27, 1933, in Lymburn, Alberta, Canada, the daughter of the Reverend Jacob David and Sara Neufeld Nickel. She attended school in Rosemary, Alberta, Canada, and then attended the Canadian Mennonite Bible College at Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. A resident of Meade, she was a homemaker. She belonged to Emmanuel Mennonite Church and the Ladies Sewing Society, both in Meade.
    On Oct. 24, 1964, she married Walter F. Rempel in Rosemary, Alberta, Canada. He survives. Other survivors include: a son, Robert, Lyons; a daughter, Leanne Plett, Salina; four brothers, David Nickel, Abbotsford, British Columbia, Canada, Ernst Nickel, Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada, John Nickel, Rosemary, Alberta, Canada, and Peter Nickel, Camrose, Alberta, Canada; a sister, Anne Retzlaff, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada; and three grandchildren.
    Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, at Emmanuel Mennonite Church, Meade, with the Rev. Ken Harder presiding. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade. Interment will be in Emmanuel Mennonite Church Cemetery, rural Meade. Memorials may be sent to the Ladies Sewing Society, Great Plains Christian Radio Station or to the Meade District Hospital, all in care of the funeral home.
