    History In the 1801 Chortitza Colony Census he is listed at Kronsgarten #3. In the 1816 Census he is listed at Kronsgarten #9 (Stumpp's book The Emigration from Germany to Russia, p. 873). One source says that he married Anna Bestvater as his second wife, but this wouldn't have been possible if he died before Anna Bartel. One record says he was born 9 Jan 1773 and died 16 Feb 1841.
