    History He was the son of Isaak Loewen (1787-1873) of Lindenau. New style birth date is 25 Feb. Plett states he was married to Susanna Ratzlaff on 1 Jan 1870. As all of his siblings were born in Lindenau, Molotschna. Moved, in 1867, together with his aged father Isaac Loewen and some of the siblings to Gruenfeld, a new village on the north end of the recently established Borosenko colony - just west of the old Chortitza colony. His first wife was Helena Thiessen, who died May 16, 1869. The following Christmas he married their maid, Susanna Ratzlaff. After his death in 1886, in Gruenfeld, Manitoba, she married Heinrich Reimer. And then, in a third marriage, married Peter P. Isaac.
    Abraham W. Loewen and most of his children were members of the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite (Holdeman), many of whom settled in Alberta.
