Obituary - The Carnegie Herald, Wednesday, May 18, 1932
    Mrs. Henry B. Janz Dies
Mrs. Henry B. Janz, former Elizabeth Unruh, was born September 6, 1848 in Poland, Russia. There she spent her early childhood with her parents. In 1864 Sister Janz was converted and baptized upon the confession of her faith by Elder Tobias Unruh and united with the Mennonite church in Russia.
In 1876 she came to America with her relatives and friends and made her home first in Harvey County, Kansas. From there she moved to Barton County. In 1891 she united in marriage with widower Henry B. Janz, becoming the step-mother of seven children, three boys and four girls. Two children preceded her in death. To this union a daughter was born. January 18, 1911 her husband died, so she resided with her daughter, Mrs. Issac Base until her death. She united with the Greenfield Mennonite Church in the year 1914 and remained a faithful Christian until the last. In December 1931 she took sick and suffered a long illness and had many trials and temptations but by the grace and help of God she won the victory.
She quietly went to rest May 8, 1932, reaching the age of 83 years, 7 months and 2 days. She leaves to mourn her departure her children, 22 grand children and a host of other relatives and friends. The funeral was held Tuesday, May 10 by Rev. Froese at the Greenfield Mennonite Church with Ralph E. Harvey, funeral director, in charge.
