    History "Church Book" p. 79a: "Was separated from the church because he married a Russian woman". "Church Book" p. 103 gives a baptism date of 4 June. Hoffnungsau I p. 62: "1895 d. 11 Fbr. nach Oklahoma attestiert". His first name is given as "Joh" on the ship passenger list in 1874, which is incorrect. On the arrival list his age is given as 22, but on the Hamburg departure list his age is given as 28. His family came to Reno County, Kansas in 1874 and later moved to Bessie, Oklahoma. He was married to a Russian Catholic wife before they immigrated. This was sorted out in the Hoffnungsau Church.
