    History He lived in Saribasch (Ettingerbrun), Crimea where he was a member of the Busau Mennonite Church. He later transferred to the Rueckenau Church. Busau Church Book, Vol. 1, p. 27 states he was born in Schoenwiese and Vol. 2, p. 59 states that he was born in Schoensee. It is highly likely that he was born in Franzthal given that his parents were living in Franzthal in 1835 per the 1835 Molotschna Census.
