    History ALMON SILAS PINNEY was born December 12, 1842 in Middlebury, Vermont. He married Lucia Ann Green on March 23, 1864 in Troy, New York. Almon Silas Pinney was a soldier in the Civil War, enlisting for nine months in the 14th Vermont Regiment; was in the army one year and took part in the Battle of Gettysburg. He is a member of the G.A.R. In 1872 he moved his family from West Cornwall, Vermont to Beaver Creek, Minnesota, and carried on a farm there until 1900, when he rented his farm and moved his family to Valley Springs, South Dakota. This latter place is about two miles from the farm in Beaver Creek. Mrs Pinney and three of her daughters were members of the Congregational Church in Valley Springs, South Dakota.
    Living in Beaver Creek, Minnesota in the 1885 Minnesota State Census.
