    History 1st Menn Newton Stammbuch p. 42: "Nachdem sie dort [Russia] 11 Jahren gewohnt hatten, zog er mit Frau u Kindern im Jahr 1877 nach Am. u zwar nach Kansas. Dort wohnte er einige Jahren in Newton wo er sich mit der ersten M.G. daselbst anschloss. Spaeter zog er mehr westlich in die Gegend von Burrton. Aufenthalt unbekannt." "Grossvater Heinrich Dick". 1st Menn Newton memb. rec. p. 9: joined 1st Menn. 1880.
    Obituary - Abraham Dick was born in South Russia on December 5, 1843, emigrated to this country and settled at Newton on July 4, 1877 and five years later moved to the homestead where he died May 23, 1913 at 9 a.m. at the age of 70 years 5 months and 19 days, after being a sufferer from a lingering disease for almost two years.
    The deceased was married in 1866 to Katherine Conrad, and to this union seven children were born, the eldest of which died in infancy. The surviving relatives are a wife, 6 children; Abe Dick Jr., John Dick and Mrs. Katherine Warkentin of Burrton, Kansas, Frank Dick of East Las Vegas, New Mexico, Mrs. Anna Gerbrand of Buhler, Kansas and Mrs. Mary Drasser of Los Angeles, California.
    The funeral sermon was preached at the German Mennonite church in Burrton, Sunday, May 25 by Rev. H.P. Krehbiel of Newton and the remains were laid to rest in the Burrton Cemetery. Many old friends and family attended the funeral.

    Built by Palmers Shipbuilding & Iron Co, Jarrow-on-Tyne. She was a 2,748 gross ton ship, length 320.5ft x beam 38.5ft, one funnel, three masts, iron construction, single screw and a speed of 13 knots. Launched on 21st Aug.1872 for the Red Star Line of Antwerp, she sailed from Antwerp on her maiden voyage to Falmouth, Halifax and Philadelphia on 20th Jan.1873. On 25th Mar.1873 she started her first Antwerp - Philadelphia direct sailing and on 29th Nov.1876 commenced her first Antwerp - New York voyage. Between 1877-87 she sailed between Antwerp and New York or Philadelphia, starting her last New York voyage on 26th Oct.1887, subsequently sailing to Philadelphia until in March 1889 she was sold to French owners and renamed GEOGRAPHIQUE. She was sunk in collision in Oct.1889.
