    Health At time of death, Blanche was suffering from an ever more obvious dementia problem, but on the night of 12 Aug 2006, she collapsed suddenly at 8 PM while brushing her teeth at her 24 hour live-in Memory Center, was rushed to the hospital where she was diagnosed with an intracranial hemorrhage, and passed away in the morning of 13 Aug 2006 at 0100. 
    History The given name Margaret is mentioned only once, and that is in the 1920 census, when Blanche was only one year old. SSDI states card issued in New York before 1951.

    Formerly of Orinda
    Blanche passed away suddenly but peacefully early August 13 at John Muir, Concord, following an extended period of Alzheimers. She and her husband resided at an assisted living facility in Pleasant Hill.
    Blanche was born in Armuchee, Georgia of Josie and Joseph Keasler. She attended the Armuchee schools where she excelled in basketball. She was valedictorian speaker in 1936 when she graduated.
    With the coming of WWII, Blanche moved to Washington, D.C. where she worked for the War Production Board. While there, she met and married Eugene B. Reid, an Army officer stationed nearby.
    Following the war, she moved to California where her husband resumed his career with Chevron Research Co. They soon moved to Orinda where the family was raised. Her primary interest was in maintaining a home for the family and passionately gardening. She became active in the DAR, Orinda Tennis Club, Republican Women’s Club and contributed much time to the White Elephant sale of the Oakland Museum and Pack Rat sale for Lindsay Museum. She was an avid crossword puzzle fan and bridge player and participated in overseas studies sponsored by Chico State University.
    Blanche is survived by her loving husband Gene Reid; daughter Gwen Lundmark and son-in-law Al; son Dennis Reid and daughter-in-law Debra; grandchildren Daniel Lundmark and fiancée Tracy Barnaba, Gary Lundmark and wife BreeAnn, Katrina Reid, Scott Reid and Julia Reid; her sister Dorothy Burkhalter in Tennessee and sister-in-law Francis Keasler of Georgia.
    A family graveside service will be held at the family plot in the Chico Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lindsay Wildlife Museum, 1931 First Ave, Walnut Creek.
