    Notes
    • Rhoda will be 80 years old this year, but sure doesn't look or (sic) act like it. She claims she is the silly one in the family. Rhoda and I slept together when we were growing up and were real pals until she met up with Roland Crozier Lyle. Then she had eyes for nobody else. Dick had a great time calling Rhoda, Mrs. Schmaltz (the funny papers), or Olive Oil - her legs were so skinny, but seemingly liked best the name "SPITFIRE." She could be very feisty, yet regret the things she'd said the next minute. She and Rollie have three great boys, all grown up and married - Larry, Jerry and Greg. Much to our sorrow, Rollie died of cancer 21 June 1990 and was buried at Greenacres Cemetery.
Rhoda had a few operations that has kept her skinny - 122 lbs. She and I both had the same operations - repair of a perforated diverticulum with a colostomy, and later a second operation to put it all back together again (re-anastomosis). Rhoda went on this year to have a three vessel coronary artery bypass graft done at Providence Hospital in Seattle. I sure hope that operation isn't catching! [4]

Since the Bellingham Herald a few weeks ago made a survey of Bellingham’s “big families”, showing that Charles Cox, popular driver at the Hotel Leopold, is the father of the largest Bellingham family, the suggestion has been made that Mr. Cox and his family be presented to the readers of The Herald. It is with considerable satisfaction that The Herald is able to comply with the implied request, and herewith presents Mr. and Mrs. Cox and their eleven children, all of whom were born in Bellingham. It also offers the suggestion that they deserve to be crowned as the champion family of Tulip Town.
