He migrated to Russia in 1837, arriving in Halbstadt on 22 Nov 1837 after a six-week trek on foot from Prussia. He returned a year later to get his four younger siblings and brought them also to Russia. He and his wife were married for over 71 years. He lived in Hutterthal, South Russia.
