    History Obituary - The funeral of Frank Dick, well known farmer of this community, was held Monday afternoon at the Christian Church with Rev. A.A. Epp of the Mennonite church officiating, assisted by Rev. Floyd Shively. Burial was in the Burrton Cemetery.
    Mr. Dick died at his home Friday, July 30, following an ilness of eight months.
    Frank Dick, son of Abraham and Katherine Dick was born April 10, 1876, in Russia. When he was one year old he came to America with his parents and settled in Newton, Kansas. after living there several years they moved to a farm north of Burrton where he spent his young manhood.
    On Jan 8, 1905, he was united in marriage to Helen Ratzlaff. To this union were born nine children, all of whom survive, with the exception of one daughter, Mrs. Anna May Regier, who passed away ten years ago.
    In 1913 they moved to New Mexico where they spent seven years. The rest of his life was spent on farms north of Burrton. Mr. Dick was a member of the Burrton Masonic Lodge, No. 182. He was baptized at Elmo, Kansas, Oct. 18, 1936.
    Surviving are his wife, Helen, four sons, Clarence of Wilmington, California, John of Sedgwick, Kansas, David and Fred of Burrton; four daughters, Clara Scherling of St. Elmo, Illinois, Minnie Stucky of Portland, Oregon, Laura Bickel of Partridge, Kansas and Evelyn Dalke of Halstead, Kansas; 13 grandchildren; one brother, John, of Buhler; three sisters, Mrs. Anna Gerbrand of Buhler, Mrs. Katie Wood of Buhler, Mrs. Mary Draser of Los Angeles, California; and a host of relatives and friends.

    Built by Palmers Shipbuilding & Iron Co, Jarrow-on-Tyne. She was a 2,748 gross ton ship, length 320.5ft x beam 38.5ft, one funnel, three masts, iron construction, single screw and a speed of 13 knots. Launched on 21st Aug.1872 for the Red Star Line of Antwerp, she sailed from Antwerp on her maiden voyage to Falmouth, Halifax and Philadelphia on 20th Jan.1873. On 25th Mar.1873 she started her first Antwerp - Philadelphia direct sailing and on 29th Nov.1876 commenced her first Antwerp - New York voyage. Between 1877-87 she sailed between Antwerp and New York or Philadelphia, starting her last New York voyage on 26th Oct.1887, subsequently sailing to Philadelphia until in March 1889 she was sold to French owners and renamed GEOGRAPHIQUE. She was sunk in collision in Oct.1889.
