C-A223. The 1901 Canada Census says she was born 13 Sep 1842. Franz and Maria left for Canada around 1875 with a family of six children, the first of which was born in 1866. They took up farming in the New Reinland area, later known as Meath, four miles southeast of Winkler. Six of the sons took up farming in this area. Frank had a special love of well-matched driving horses. One record says she died 1 Oct 1914. Madelin (Rommel) Ulrich's (b. 27 Dec 1941) material says she died 29 Sep 1915. Vitals say she died 2 Oct 1915, age 73, name listed as Marie Enns. |
