Obituary - Death takes Mrs. John Isaac Friesen Friday morning. She came to Meade County in 1910. Born in South Russia and came to America in 1876. Katharina Friesen, my beloved wife and mother, was born Jan 16, 1863 at Molotschna, in Friedensdorf, South Russia. In 1876 her parents, the Bernhard Ratzlaffs, emigrated to America and settled near Jansen, Nebraska where she grew to womanhood. In the year of 1880, she was converted and upon her Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, her Redeemer, was baptized by Elder Abraham L. Friesen on Dec 19 and became a member of Kleine Gemeinde, of which she remained a faithful member to the end.
On March 20, 1881 she was united in marriage to Abraham K. Friesen. In Jan 1910 they moved to Meade, Meade County, Kansas. On Oct. 13, 1913 her husband passed away. To this union ten children were born of which two sons and two daughters preceded her in death. In this union they shared joys and sorrows for 32 years, 6 months and 23 days. She was a widow for four years, seven months and ten days.
On May 23, 1918, she was united in marriage to Johann Isaac Friesen by which at that time she became the mother of his six daughters and two sons of which one daughter preceded her in death.
About two years ago her health began to fail and she gradually grew weaker. In September, we went to a hospital in Wichita where she remained for 13 days under the doctor's care after which she was taken home where she seemed to improve and at times had hopes of regaining her health, but God's ways were different. She passed away Dec. 23, 1938, at 9:10 a.m. In this union, they shared joys and sorrows for 20 years seven months. She brought her age to 75 years, ten months, and 27 days.
She leaves to mourn her departure her beloved husband and six children, 41 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, five brothers, six sisters, and many friends. We grieve, but hope to meet her in Heaven.
